Elle by YSL reviewed

In this brave new world of celebrity fragrances we have to take a step back one moment and look at how the experts do it. When people say "what does Britney Spears know about fragrance anyway" they are thinking of YSL/Channel/Dior. The classics. This month YSL release Elle. Comparable in gravity to Dolce & Gabbana The One last year, this is a fragrance that won't be here today gone tomorrow but will gain its own following, sets its own style and will evolve through generations of campaigns. This is the start of a new sub brand.

Launched by Coco Rocha in a stunning YSL suit she oozes glamour and sex appeal. According to YSL she is bold, unique, unpredicable, feminine, seductive whilst bold. A modern parisian woman.

The fragrance notes are peony, lychee, pink berries, freesia and jasmine. With bottom notes of patchouli, vetiver and amber :-). Unlike fragrances of a lesser lineage this brings forth a floral elegance.

Kate Price - Stunning(ly) trashy

Stunning from Katie Price has been out a few weeks now so how is it fairing...?

- bad hair. could she not be bothered to get her roots done for the packaging photo? Considering she appears to have applied her foundation and blusher with a builders trowel and *then* had the photo airbrushed almost beyond recognition you would have thought they could have fixed her hair!
- really bad bottle manufacturing. Saw 3 dead tester in Boots today. One with a missing spray nozzle, the other two had stopped spraying before the fragrance had run out. The chrome-look cheapo plastic top doesn't fit properly onto the dreadful milk bottle glass bottle and breakages look common from what I saw in Boots. We're a long way from Chanel No.5 here...! Apparently Katie asked for something like Jean Paul Gaultier Classique in her image, with her wearing stocking and suspenders but unfortunately she ended up with something that looks like left over stock from a pound shop!
- fragrance. It's all down to opinion but this is the final nail in the coffin for me to show exactly who they're aiming this one at. Designer fragrance? The genuine article is worse than most fakes. Sorry Jordan, this is terrible!

Chanelle celebrity perfume rumour

Chanelle - bizarre midget lookalike

Seems like a dream come true, right? She is desperate to be like Victoria Beckham, ex-BB Jade Goody's Shhh.... [it] has already been a big success despite how much she failed to Shhh... up when she should have done and get this... her name is even Chanelle.

Rumours in the Daily Star that Chanelle Hayes is set to be the second Big Brother ex-housemate to release their own fragrance. Chances of the rumours coming true or is Daily Star dare we say it, "making it up"? Mixed actually. It's true industry figures are looking at possibilities but highly dubious whether anything will come of it. One big problem. As sure as Channel will fade away quicker than her clothes, CHANEL will protect their trademark all the way to court.

Christina Aguilera by Christina Aguilera

New from P&G Prestige, now due October 2007 will be the new eponymous fragrance from Christina Aguilera. Christina has already ventured into the celeb fragrance circus twice with a limited release fragrance Xposed and previous eponymous release. This is the first time she has dipped her dainty dancing toes into the international arena though and with P&G Prestige developing the fragrance she can hardly go wrong. Well - except it was supposed to be out on 10th Sept and has been stalled until October....

- "sometime's it's all you need to wear...", Christina Aguilera. (you talking about your massive tramp tatt or your new fragrance, babes)

20-second Fragrance advertisement
Also as a special treat, here's a quick 1 1/2 minute "making of the advert..."!

Gwen Stefani fragrance

The first pics of the awaited 'L' L.A.M.B. Gwen Stefani fragrance are out on the No Doubt website (12th Sept) http://nodoubtweb.com/wordpress/?p=1696

The ad shows the bottle in the rather attractive box. I've seen a sample from Coty inc. and the presentation is really special. Lets hope the fragrance is nice!

Gift bags will be widely available, look out for a replica Gwen bracelet free gift with purchase at Boots and Debenhams. The TV ad can be watched right here at Perfume Insider.

Love it babes. xx
